Back

The P/E Chart is used to show the absolute and relative P/E of the GSV 300 compared to the S&P 500. Since the GSV 300 is comprised of much faster growing companies than the S&P 500, one would expect it's P/E to be greater and it almost always is. The main usefulness is to see how growth is being valued compared to regular companies and when growth is overvalued, fairly valued or undervalued.

What you need to know about Growth Rate

Back

P/E/G Chart is an important window to how investors are valuing companies versus their growth. In normal times, a normal growth company would be expected to have a 12 month forward P/E equal to its projected growth rate. Many things impact the P/E investors are willing to pay including visibility of growth, the interest rate environment and sustainability of the model.

What you need to know about the Price-to-Sales (P/S) Ratio

Back

P/S Chart is another tool to determine how companies are being valued and is especially useful to value to companies that are either unprofitable or marginally profitable. A normal company with normal margins and a Market growth rate as rule of thumb is valued around 1X sales. A rapidly growing company with high margins and strong visibility could be easily be valued at 2-4X sales.

Despite numerous other indices—S&P 500, NASDAQ, Russell Growth 2000, Morgan Stanley Emerging Country Index, and so on—nothing remotely reflects the growth characteristics of the GSV Global Growth 300.

Moreover, other indices are flawed by features such as being entirely Market Cap Weighted or selecting growth companies by having the highest P/E, not by the growth rate.
